Christy and several other writers around Maryland welcome middle and high school teens to join their clubs and seek support in their creative writing efforts. The Germantown Teen Writing Club, sponsored by the Maryland Writers Association and hosted by the Montgomery County Public Library, will begin its sixth year in September 2019. The meetings include writing prompts, occasional speakers and a variety of engaged lessons in writing prose or poetry. Primarily it is an opportunity for writers to get constructive feedback from peers and adults on their own writing — whether it is for fun, to submit to writing contests, or to be published.
Members also will get a chance to submit their short stories or poems for possible publication in the MWA teen anthology. The fourth volume teen anthology was published in June 2019 and can be purchased on Amazon.
